You Need This Tool – Episode 78 | Dremel Variable Speed Rotary Tool Kit

On this weeks episode of you need this tool. I feature the Dremel tool kits. These things always come through for me in a pinch.

Welcome to The Fab Forums. My name is Kyle Voss and I produce Custom Motorsports Fabrication content of all forms for you. Carbon Fiber, TIG Welding, Metal Shaping, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Choppers, and everything in between. I work hard to bring you new content on a weekly basis.

Here are some of the builds you can find on this channel.
I have built several Chevy trucks on this channel. The first was my 1964 C10 named Crown Spoyal and the most recent C10 truck project was the 1969 I currently have named the Black Pearl.

I am also finishing up a custom twin turbo Ford Mustang build I call the Gray Goose. It’s a 400 cubic inch Windsor style engine with twin 70mm turbos. I am hoping to make around the 1000 horse power mark to the tires on this particular build.

Last but not least is the one off custom hot rod build called the Bibbster. This is what I call a modern day hot rod. It’s made from an old Ford Mustang foxbody, but made to look like an old school open wheeled hot rod.

I also feature other fabricators and shops like Cutworm Specialties hand formed aluminum wide body kit for a BMW e46. Jeb Greenstone has also built a twin turbo, coyote powered model A style hot rod from scratch, and is currently building a Toyota TE72 wagon drift car powered by a 1UZ Lexus v8. Jeb’s custom fabrication skills are fun to watch and always make for good videos.

Check out my playlist to see some or all of these builds.

Dill Wiggle says:

Yup dremels are always handy for tight spots and when needed are always a saviour.
Milwaukee also has a 12v high speed tool like the dremel as well. ! Nice vid dude

Jesse Hanowell says:

Ive seen vids where a guy uses a dremmel tool to clean of gasket from a diff cover and gear housing surfaces for re-attachment after they change gearing or diff fluid etc. Do you reccomend this? If so what attachment.

Drizzy Williams says:

I was gonna talk shit until you pulled the Glock out soo………. Great Video ?

Chaos Garage says:

Awesome and definitely underrated tool. I’ve got an old Black & Decker variable speed dremel that I’ve owned for 20+ years.  It’s been used for hundreds of projects over the years.

Ted Theodore Logan says:

Good tool for sure, I got the cordless dremel. Got the refurbished at a cheaper price, but the dang charger was no bueno. So l gues ya do get what ya pay for ha!

Andrew Witcher says:

I have a craftsman flex shaft mounted on old cutting board with a metal can with the bits all right there. I use it all the time cause it’s always right there

mark yono says:

Any chance of more gun mod vids?

Blake's Garage says:

I’ve burned up the last 3 so quickly. I actually found that the cheapest one last the longest.

Vampin RC says:

One o the BEST choices I ever made was getting a Dremel !!! AWESOME Tool

Bob S. says:

The Dremel is a very useful tool, also great for polishing and buffing those spots where nothing else fits. Like you said it pays to have a few batteries if you have the cordless version.

Larry Kelley says:

hey kyle first time watcher. what do you think of the extended cable you can buy for the dremel. I have been watching  stippling video’s and do you think buying the 36″ inch extended cable is worth buying

Hallowed Be Thy Name says:

5 minutes is too long for this video, imho.

minisaba87 says:

Definitely a must have!

Nicholas Smerk says:

WHY? I just use my die grinder, angle die grinder and air cut-off saw wheel for everything. I’ve gotten away without a Dremel for years.

Floordford says:

I burned through 3 Dremels after mild use. Tried to do new magnets and springs. Not helpful. Bought the Harbor Freight comparable multispeed rotary and it’s outlasted Dremel in a big way. Only issue recently is the spring lock button for changing bits is now loose. But as much as I use it and as long as it’s lasted, well worth it to do the HF version.

Milena V says:

I use mine everyday lol. I love em’. I have 2 Dremels, one core and other cordless. But total of rotary tools I have is 5 lol. And 2 flex shafts lol

Carl S says:

Gave up on Dremel years ago,the variable speed switch malfunctioned on two that I had.Sorry never again…

Equiluxe1 says:

Got a dremel but prefer my pencil die grinder its even smaller than the dremel and a fraction of the weight.

Plague Plague says:

Anyone tried the milwaukee one ? Any good ?

Alpha Ghost says:

Mini death wheel. Would you suggest wearing specs rather than safety glasses.

Emanuel Garza says:

Love your videos brother! Thank you keep it up! Greeting from Brownsville Tx

MrFireman164 says:

I think I may have to get a battery operated Dremel tool, my wife has a similar shaped battery operated tool and she seems to love it .

EZ TV says:

I got a Dremel to work on gun I stippled. Need a wood burner too. But I want one them cordless ones! Battery last good amount of time and good power? Makes me think of corded drill VS cordless drill.

bdub z says:

Mines been lost in a box since I got a die grinder, soo much more power

bayou boat trash says:

I love my dremel! I set up a fishing tackle box to use for the tool, flex shaft, router attachment and all the consumables. As a bonus, the the mandrel holder that came with the original case fits in there perfect! I put all the consumables in the lure trays. Couldn’t have asked for it to work out better.

Cano says:

Recently found you and subscribed. I admit I was a fool now going to buy this tool.

qcn_ cummins says:

I love my corded Dremel it is my favorite tool for detail cleaning before paint on metal. The sanding wheels are my favorite for a quick and dirty clean up and smoothing on wood.

Joe Framer says:

Wow this channel sucks

Wes Beauchamp says:

Trying to order some stuff from Eastwood. Whats the free shipping code?

valentino galaviz says:

tspike says:

Im a gunsmith and my dremels and diegrinders are the biggest time saving tools I own

BBQ Sandwich says:

I have the cordless one and abuse the shit out of it. It should have died a long time ago. Its worth whatever I paid for it.

Craig Cundiff says:

I have this cordless version just used it yesterday to fix an iron..(yup..an iron)this thing is great! When I was looking at Dremels I knew that the cordless was the way to go…excellent power, a ton of accessories, and you can take it anywhere… Great featured tool this week Kyle!…

Jay Why says:

I think I’m on my 4th. Use it all the time on the finicky stuff

Mike Vieira says:

Oh nice!! I carry an S&W M&P Shield 9mm.

Rusty Crusty CJ7 says:

Hey Kyle, I was rummaging around in my tools the other day and ran across one that made me think about you. You may have them and might have even featured them and I missed it. As a machinist we use these pretty often but could be used across lots of different applications. Check out transfer screws if you haven’t already. I know you can get them at most industrial supply places like McMaster Carr, MSC, and you can get them on Amazon now too.

lujon says:

When you burn up that Dremel pick up one of the Milwaukee M12 rotary tools. It works with the same batteries as your new 12v ratchet and to my hand seems like a higher quality tool

Brian Jasper says:

They are also great for removing the remains of a broken bolt. You can grind away most of it to get in an easy-out or just pull out the left over thread. Great vid like aways

xempt. one says:

You look just like soundman CA haha i thought i was clicking on his video
