Vax Life / Hoover Linx Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner Demonstration & Review

In this video I demonstrate the Vax Life cordless vacuum cleaner and test its performance on pet hair pick up from carpets as well as general dust and dirt. I also show pick up performance on a hard floor and demonstrate how to empty and maintain the cleaner.

Details below taken from Vax’s website.

Product Description

A revolution in home cleaning, LiFE is the UK’s most advanced cordless upright. It’s an essential tool for anyone with a busy lifestyle, as it gives you the freedom to quickly clean wherever you want, without the hassles of dealing with a power cord. You’ll never need to bend down to change the plug again.

Standing out for all the right reasons, LiFE has powerful fade free suction and combines cordless convenience with the suction performance of a conventional upright. It’s ideal for apartments or as a companion to a larger family vacuum cleaner and as it’s super lightweight, it’s very kind to your back.

Ultra lightweight

If you find large upright vacuum cleaners too heavy and bulky to operate and carry then you’ll love LiFE. It weighs an unbelievable 3.4kg–that’s less than a few bags of sugar. This means it’s light and easy enough for everyone to use. As it has a slim, compact design, it takes up less storage space too.

Lithium ion battery provides consistent, fade free power.

All the suction performance of a corded upright
Advanced Lithium Ion battery

Designed with advanced Lithium ion technology, its 18 volt battery maintains consistent strong power until it is completely drained, with none of the ‘slow-fade’ of power and suction that you expect from conventional cordless cleaning products. The battery can be charged and used again and again without diminishing the run time.

To charge the battery, slide it out the from its slot in the centre of the vacuum cleaner and place in the supplied charging station for just 3 hours, or until the light indicates it has reached full charge. This compares to a charge time of 8 to 16 hours for a vacuum cleaner that uses traditional Ni-CD batteries.

Once full, it stops charging to conserve energy and protect the battery. A fully charged battery provides consistent suction for up to 15 minutes, giving you enough runtime to clean all your floors. The three battery fuel gauge lights let you know just how much power you’ve got left as you clean, so you’re never caught short.
Full size performance

Although LiFE is slim-line, it’s no lightweight when it comes to cleaning performance. With this bagless upright, you don’t have to compromise for cordless convenience as LiFE offers all the suction of a conventional corded cleaner. Its bagless, single cyclonic filtration technology ensures constant, powerful suction to leave your home looking spotless.

LiFE unplugged has two cleaning modes so you can switch between vacuuming hard floors and carpets, at the touch of a button. Simply switch the brushbar on for carpets and off again for hard floors. This convenient feature makes it quick and easy to clean your whole home with the minimum of effort.

WindTunnel prevents scatter back by trapping more dust
WindTunnel technology

Unlike conventional upright vacuums, which can scatter dust (especially around hard floors), patented WindTunnel technology efficiently lifts and traps dirt so it stays in your LiFE vacuum cleaner and not on your floor.

The market leading 2-year guarantee* on this vacuum cleaner gives you complete peace of mind. Like all Vax products, LiFE is supported by Vax’s UK based Customer Careline open 7 days a week.

* Battery and charger also have a 2 year guarantee.

Seems very “plasticy” but you can see that center path really suck up the dirt. Would be useful as a quick cleaner but wouldn’t use it instead of a normal vacuum. Great review!

Bruce Solomon says:

There is a corded version of this machine that has a 7amp motor instead of 2amps.

That vax did an impressive job for a cordless vacuum! I loved the way it was pulling things in before coming into contact with the brush head!

the small container reminds me of the Dyson V8

Kevin Ison says:

Hi Roger, how does this compare with the Vac air cordless lift models with regard pickup?
The wheels fell off my air lift model, but vax quickly sent me a replacement main body.

Excellent review Roger. For a cordless vacuum that was quite impressive. Which magazine is generally good but as you’ve proved here, some of their reviews are questionable.

Enjoyed as always! Very surprised how well it cleaned, not my thing but thanks to you I’m beginning to wonder what my thing is… Maybe not my Miele U1 Jazz upright.

Matt Jones says:

Nice machine!

Steph0107 says:

Roger! You are looking great!!!! Ten years younger! 🙂

Brian Torobin says:

America’s Consumer Reports tested a similar Hoover Linx BH50010 stick vac and the results were very good. Surface litter removal from bare floors and carpet was rated “very good” and the testers were even impressed by its ability to remove pet hair. Unfortunately, this stick vac did not filter emissions very well and so did not make it to the top of the ratings because of that. But at USD $130, this is very good value for the money compared to others costing twice as much.

Amistech1995 says:

That looks like a decent machine but I have been put off vax in the past

Johnon Vessell says:

I know that the Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away Speed with duoclean has a cord but I does better.

LaundryKid2005 says:

Looks cheap and tacky
