TackLife Random Orbit Sander Review

In this video I review the TackLife random orbit sander and compare it with two Ridgid sanders. All three of them are orange! The TackLife sander provides a good value as a low cost alternative to some of the higher priced sanders.

Things I liked about the TackLife sander were the dust collection system and the position of the on/off buttons that are positioned away from the thumb and forefinger so that you don’t accidentally turn it off while sanding.

Things that could be improved are the length of the cord (I almost always have to use an extension cord) and the fact that it doesn’t have a 2 1/4″ dust port that is a standard size for a lot of shop vacs.

If you are interested in the TackLife sander, you can find it on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/2zKW6Vl

If you need a replacement hook and loop sanding disk (backer pad) when the one on your sander wears out, you can find one here: http://amzn.to/2yQgRLK

I compared the TackLife with two Ridgid sanders. The R2601 belongs to a friend of mine who recently purchased it based on my recommendation (before I knew about TackLife). It’s a great sander, but a little more expensive. You can find one at Home Depot here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-5-in-Random-Orbital-Sander-with-AIRGUARD-Technology-R26011/100053683?keyword=ridgid+r2601+sander
or you can purchase one that is factory refurbished from Amazon for a little less money here: http://amzn.to/2zJxdJA

The Ridgid R2600 sander is the one that I’ve been using for more than 10 years. I’ve been very happy with it, although it’s starting to show some wear. The thing I like the best about it is this sander is the 12ft cord that enables me to move freely around the shop. The thing that I don’t like about it is that there is no braking mechanism, so it takes forever to stop. Ridgid no longer makes this sander but you can still find factory reconditioned sanders here: http://amzn.to/2hwGwlS

Nice video review. I’d steer away from the cheaper unit myself for sure. Ridgid? Sounds decent, I’m pleased so far with my Ridgid Spindle Sander I picked up last spring (only Ridgid tool I have so far). For sanders, after blowing through a few cheap ones, I only use Milwaukee or Dewalt now. Currently a Milwaukee. Likely picking up another Dewalt in a couple days as a spare. Awesome sale on one right now locally. so good time to grab a spare. Hate having a tool break down in the middle of my work day.
