We never thought the belt sander would ever go cordless. It takes a lot of power and enough run-time to make it worthwhile and effective. The RYOBI Cordless Belt Sander ran for around 11 minutes under a decent load, and is priced right. At $129 for the bare tool, this is a great tool for the guy who needs to use a belt sander for occasional use. One area it didn’t fare too well in was dust collection via the bag. You’re going to want to use this with a dust collector—or just keep it outdoors.
RYOBI delivers with sufficient run-time, a tool-less belt change, adjustable pommel handle, and the use of a brushless motor. For $129 at The Home Depot, this is an easy purchase except for the fact that the RIDGID is just $20 more.
