Festool Rotex 150 Multi-Mode Sander Review by Braden Stadlman

This is a summary of my experience with the Festool RO150 Rotex sander as part of Festool USA’s Sand, Finish, Pass campaign. I was able to evaluate the RO150 on a variety of projects including finish and paint stripping, hardwood floor resurfacing, and finish sanding.

Brandon, I recently leaped on the RO 90, and am thoroughly enjoying it. In trying to decipher the types of paper, I finally opted to the cost efficiency of buying all grits (40 – 220) of Rubin II in both shapes (round and delta) and see how that works out. I must say, it loses its aggressiveness kind of quickly but then continues to “function” for quite some time after that. And it appears to resist clogging quite well. Although the bulk of my sanding recently has been either raw maple or Baltic birch, so I wouldn’t be expecting a lot of build up in any product with those applications. After your video, I’m again second guessing my decision and wonder if you think I should invest in a sampling of granat to see if that’s more what I’m after? Or were the two close enough on raw woods to just use up the bulk of my purchase and then try others? Most of my sanding is in hobbyist/ homeowner type applications, usually raw wood not a whole lot of paint or finish removal. Thanks, Jim.

I have a really small house and I would use this to refinishing my floors. I would be way easier than the big heavy floor sanders and the dust collection would be awesome!! The tools I want from Festoll is the Kapex, sanders, and dust collection. No one else comes close with dust collection Festool has
