Ryobi P222 18V SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill Review

The new Ryobi 18 volt One+ SDS Plus rotary hammer drill is a step up in power and design. Many home improvement tasks can be completed with a rotary hammer. These are simply not just for drilling holes in concrete as one can remove tile, chip away masonry and stone along with other outdoor landscaping tasks. Our testing involved concrete and pavers because that is mostly what people will use these for.

I had the older model P221 and loved it. I was able to drill 1/4″ holes through solid concrete for Tapcons with relative ease. When this finally came out in America I sold it to make room for this. I can’t wait to get it.

Russ Webster says:

Thanks for the review Brian. Ryobi is really expanding the 18 volt line.

is this more powerful than the others? can you do a actual comparison of the other hammer drills by ryobi? what are we getting

Joe Boo says:

I had a P221, I burned it out by coring 1.5 ft thick concrete, 1/2 in holes(not recommended and not supposed to do this)!! It would drill maybe 50 2in deep, 1/4 in holes though, no problem. Untill I ruined it! 😛 I just got this model yesterday as a warranty replacement and havent had time to use it yet. Its 99 bucks a home depot. Definitely cant beat it for price and size.

BrodieSR2 says:

Would this handle drilling 20mm holes ?? Thanks

tomsterism says:

Would love to acquire this drill for concrete work if it will handle my only project. I need to drill 4 each 1/2″ holes into concrete for 1/2″ anchors. Will this accommodate my needs?
